Brief Position Overview

Teach nursing courses in both the ASN and the RN to BSN (online) nursing programs. The ASN program requires teaching didactic lectures, laboratory skills, and clinical courses for the advanced medical surgical specialty areas. The position will teach approximately 24 semester credit hours of classes per year.

Position Details

General Statement

Teach nursing courses in the associate degree and RN to BSN (online) nursing programs as well as provide clinical instruction in medical surgical (adult health) nursing. Effective teaching is the primary mission of this position and MSU Northern. .

Duties and Responsibilities

1. The ASN program requires teaching didactic lectures, laboratory skills, and clinical courses for the advanced medical surgical specialty areas.
2. Nursing faculty continuously assess, develop, implement, and review the MT State-Wide ASN and RN-BSN Completion curricula in order to prepare students adequately for the evidence based nursing practice and challenges within all aspects of the nursing field.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

A Graduate degree in Nursing from a nationally accredited program; or a BSN with a written plan that addresses no more than five years to earn the Graduate degree in Nursing. Hold a current unencumbered Montana Board of Nursing licensure, or licensure from COMPACT state; Background in nursing education with emphasis in physical assessment, nursing process, and nursing practice. Three year full-time work experience in accredited health care facility as a Registered Nurse; Minimum of three years university based setting teaching experience or health care teaching experiences.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

MSN prepared in a nurse’s related field.
Experience in distance education including interactive television and web-based course delivery.
