Position Details

General Statement

The agricultural technology educator will develop and deliver coursework leading to an Associate of Applied Science in Agriculture Technology, Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Operations Technology as well as supporting coursework for agricultural related minors. The position will also be responsible for advising the Postsecondary Agricultural Student (PAS) organization and be active in the community as an ambassador for MSUN and agriculture.

Duties and Responsibilities

The agricultural technology educator will develop and deliver coursework leading to an Associate of Applied Science in Agriculture Technology, Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Operations Technology as well as supporting coursework for agricultural related minors. The position will also be responsible for advising the Postsecondary Agricultural Student (PAS) organization and be active in the community as an ambassador for MSUN and agriculture.

This position will require teaching approximately 24 semester credits related to plant science, crop production, livestock and livestock nutrition, agricultural marketing, farm and ranch management and other agriculturally related subjects. Academic and career advising will be a responsibility associated with this position. In addition, the hire will be involved in curriculum development, program growth, program assessment and working with an advisory council.

Academic responsibilities will also include serving on campus committees, involvement in campus activities and serving as an ambassador and collegiate member of the College of Technical Sciences.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree related to agriculture
• 3 or more years of teaching experience
• Excellence in written and oral communication
• Demonstrated strength in interpersonal skills and attributes
• Passion for agriculture and agricultural education

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

• Master’s degree or a terminal degree in an appropriate field
• Background and work experiences in farm and ranch production
• Experience and willingness to embrace agricultural technologies
